Firstly the important thing:

Hailing frequency for the Almost Honest:

Preplies

While communications are now back up to full speed, the feedback from other captains with regards to the Preplies has been unexpectedly positive. Apparently the way in which they quickly state the Almost Honest's policies and general inclination has aided many a captain in their interactions with this vessel. In acknowledgement of this fact they are being left intact, and can still be considered thoroughly valid. Please still do not be put off from hailing if you wish to.

Preplies

Here is a quick compilation of preplies (like a reply, but done first) to some common or predicted hails. If you had a question for the captain, please feel free to pick out the appropriate response. Still do hail, mind you - I'm just trying to save you time on the common queries.

  • No, the Almost Honest almost certainly has no hostile intent towards your vessel. In the unlikely case you are one of the very few vessels with which AH has an argument, you will definitely be hailed in good time (+24 hours at least) before being attacked. No hail, no combat. The exception is of course if you are listed as an enemy of mine at the Fierce Hostility Registry. Being listed here counts as your warning; you may come under fire without further communication.
  • Aimless Wanderer, if this is you, ha ha ha ha, go on, try that again, it tickles.
  • If you have encountered the Almost Honest in a system for which the Almost Honest offered Dybuk Protection last turn, then the Almost Honest will not consider you a hostile vessel regardless of any previous interaction we may have shared. In other words, the Almost Honest will not attack when offering Dybuk Protection; and enemies of the AH can consider themselves under an amnesty for the duration of Dybuk's releases.
  • There is a chance that the Almost Honest will be attempting any mid-to-high level adventures in this system. It's best to hail and confirm the availability of any adventures, just to avoid wasting any officers actions.
  • Yes, the AH is extremely liable to sell any trade good I hold that this system will take. Sorry about your profit margin.
  • Thankyou for your kind offer of a module trade. If the captain wishes to take you up on this you will definitely be hailed. Don't set orders to offer - and please don't give instructions to attack if defied - until you hear back. Incidentally, if you're trying to trade for a Fighter or Drone the answer is no, unless you're offering a higher tech Drone or Fighter (maybe with a lower reliability) in return.
  • Yes, if you're a younger vessel you are welcome to any module of Basic tech or less the AH is currently carrying, with the exception of that Primitive Warp Drive. Sentimental value, you know. Set orders to Demand, and the captain will set orders to gift.

Any other queries or communiques, feel free to send them through.

    The Almost Honest

The Almost Honest is a peaceful trading vessel, with any resemblances to a battleship being purely coincidental.

The Captain of the Almost Honest is a unmitigated trader to the bone, and will always be happy to discuss Module trades and exchanges. If your vessel is of comparable size to the AH don't be offended by the Captain driving a hard bargain: he doesn't mean it personally, he just can't help himself. If your vessel is substantially smaller, you should be equally unshocked at being offered a generous donation: the Captain approves of intelligent younger vessel commanders.

There seems to be little more to say. The Almost Honest's Captain is as garulous as they come (comms systems permitting), so feel free to hail for any reason on any subject.
