Odinjar Dreki

I am Odinn Ygg, Captain and owner of the Odinjar Dreki. Due to an extremely rare fold in the weaves of the space-time continuum a few years ago, I suddenly found myself in this new galaxy, far from the age and place I once knew. In my former surroundings, I was the god of all the Norse gods known to the inhabitants of a planet called Earth. Well-versed captains I've spoken with tell me that my closest companions are now "ancient mythology." I personally feel that the "myth" part is a misnomer, but there is no way for a single being to convince the universe of this. My tale comes down to this: just a few short years ago I was the most important and powerful being of a great and respected civilization, on stardate 1746.3 I suddenly landed on a run-down ship with four officers with no skills to speak of. As unknowledgable as I was about this new galaxy, I gave up my post as captain on stardate 1751.0 to become an officer on Leigh Erikson's ship, the USS Destiny's Quest. When his ship was destroyed on 1761.5, I was the sole survivor and became the captain of my current ship, the Odinjar Dreki. Having built up a respectable store of knowledge during my time as an officer, I decided to keep my post as captain and train my officers to the best of my ability. My goals were to build a great vessel from these scraps I have been given and to earn the respect of my fellow captains. Now equipped with the ship I once only dreamed off, I have taken to bounty-hunting to make this galaxy a safer place for younger ships. I have already captured both the Vole and Elf Godparents, and am currently tracking down the Turtle criminals. I hope to one day put all 16 Godparents behind bars. If you would like to contact me, my hailing frequency is: OdinjarDreki@yahoo.com.

Helpful Links for Newbies and Others

The Rules is the number one most important page any player needs to have bookmarked. It tells you everything you need to know about the basics of the game- especially useful for the complicated mathmatical formulas associated with combat and other aspects. To help you find your way around the rules page, Repulse, ScAvenger and Constitution have worked on the Rules Index page. Additionally, an extremely helpful Ultimate Guide to TBG was created by Andy Spafford of the Constitution, and edited and hosted by Captain Remco of the ScAvenger. This page doesn't just tell you the rules on something, such as trading, it gives you a step-by-step on how to do it and dos and don'ts especially aimed at newer ships.

The Subspace Times is a newsletter available to all ship captains when each turn runs. This is the best way for captains to talk to everyone at once and to learn what is happening throughout the galaxy. Favor trades, module offers, shop data, rankings and more can be found on this page.

Tourist Maps This page is good for finding out which star systems buy and sell which trade goods, where Stargates are, alien locations, and many other useful pieces of information. The downside to this page is that while it tells you where to sell your trade goods, it doesn't tell you the going rates. The information there is accurate, but it is not updated regularly so it can't give such specific information.

Hostility Registry When you pair with a ship you don't know, it might be a good idea to take a look at the hostility registry. The ships listed here reserve the 'right' to attack 'without notice.' Having their name on this list is considered to be the other ship's notice, and woe to the ignorant ship Captain who doesn't know that! (Though it is against custom for any ship to attack a newbie ship- any ship less than 100 turns old.)
